National Cyber Security Awareness Month to Launch at the 2014 NASCIO Annual ConferenceFacebook Live Broadcasts Kickoff Event Featuring Federal, State and Local Officials and Private Sector Digital Industry Leaders
Washington, DC, Sept. 30, 2014 – The National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA), the nation's leading nonprofit public-private partnership promoting the safe and secure use of the Internet, will launch the 2014 National Cyber Security Awareness Month on October 1 at the National Association of State Chief Information Officers (NASCIO) conference in Nashville, Tennessee. The official kick-off event will feature several leaders from both public and private sectors coming together to promote online safety awareness including White House Cyber Security Advisor Michael Daniel and Department of Homeland Security Deputy Under Secretary Phyllis Schneck.
"We're thrilled to kick-off NCSAM 2014 in Nashville this year and are looking forward to an engaging dialogue with some of the nation's top cybersecurity experts," saidMichael Kaiser, Executive Director, NCSA. "We want to thank Facebook for providing a live stream of the event for the fourth year in row. Streaming the NCSAM launch on Facebook Live will allow us to reach a broader audience than ever before with a clear message to join forces this October and beyond to build a safer, more secure Internet."
Now in its 11th year, NCSAM is co-sponsored by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) in cooperation with the NCSA and the Multi-State Information Sharing and Analysis Center. The event, including remarks from government and private sector officials as well as panel discussions, will be available for viewing via Facebook Live beginning at 9 A.M. CDT/10 A.M.
