About Kimberly Brodie

Kimberly Brodie is an independent education consultant, with expertise on
technology's role in education and the lives of today's young
people. Most recently, she served as chief of staff at the U.S.
Department of Education's Office of Innovation and Improvement, which
focuses on making strategic investments in innovative educational
practices. In May 2006, Ms. Brodie joined the U.S. Department of
Education's Office of Educational Technology, where she contributed
to the development of policies and resource tools to support schools
and districts in thoughtfully utilizing technology, and was
instrumental in the creation of the "Parent's Guide to the
Internet," a resource being published by the Department to
empower parents to wisely navigate their child's online experience.
In addition, Ms. Brodie managed a series of policy briefings at the
Department that focused on increasing awareness of current issues and
trends involving technology in K-12 settings.

A former educator from California, Ms. Brodie has taught Kindergarten,
second and fifth grades among diverse socio-economic student
populations in Sacramento.  She was selected to serve as the
acting administrator of a new K-8 school site to partner with the
principal to develop, implement and administer new school-wide
policies and procedures, and collaborate with parents, and district
and community leaders, to establish a positive and productive school
culture.  Ms. Brodie has experience mentoring new teachers in
classroom management techniques and created a literacy program for
fifth-grade students that was later adopted as part of the Dry Creek
Joint School District's sixth grade curriculum. In 1997, Ms.
Brodie received the B.E.C.O.M.E Award for Outstanding Teaching and
has also worked on national education issues while serving for former
Unites States Representative Frank Riggs of CA.

Ms. Brodie holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Saint Mary's College of
California, a Professional Clear Teaching Credential and a Master of
Arts degree in Education Leadership and Policy Studies from
California State University Sacramento.  She currently resides
in Washington, D.C.
