University Partners

This year National Cyber Security Alliance is launching a campaign directed at 17-25 year-olds to expand on its National Cyber Security Awareness Month Campaigns of the last six years. The goal is to increase knowledge about cybersecurity and basic practices to protect computers and networks, so that using the Internet securely and safely becomes second nature.

Two humorous, edgy web videos are being created for the campaign. The videos will cover cybersecurity issues and provide online information for younger adults. These web videos will be advanced through social networking sites such as YouTube, Facebook, MySpace and Twitter.

Universities and colleges across the nation are supporting the campaign on campuses, through online channels and media relations. Eight university partners were identified this year - Baylor University, Boston College, Dartmouth College, Purdue University, Rochester Institute of Technology, The Johns Hopkins University, University of Hawaii-Manoa, and University of Virginia.

Malware, identify theft, scams, gaming, protecting intellectual property, junk email, cyber etiquette and handling/reporting cyber crimes are among the issues addressed.

Check a college campus near you and look for cybersecurity awareness activities.
