Searching, Filtering, and Monitoring Tools
in
Many tools are available for parents to help their children have safe and rewarding online experiences.
Searching, filtering and monitoring tools should:
- Filter sexually explicit graphic descriptions or images. Be aware; no filter is perfect.
- Log your child's online activities. These tools allow you to choose whether or not to let your child know you are monitoring them.
- Allow you to set “timers’ to limit the amount of time your child spends online. Some tools allow parents to select certain times of the day when the child can or cannot go online.
- Block the child's personal information from being posted or emailed (e.g. name, home address, etc.)
The GetNetWise Tools for Families database has a list of tools that may be suitable for your family.
