Training and Awareness Meets Marketing
Security training and marketing have a lot in common. The goals of both are influencing human behavior; to buy stuff on one side, to be more cybersecure on the other.
In the context of video, both marketing and learning research show videos work. One statistic sticks out among the dozens you’d find searching for “marketing video statistics” on Google:
“84% of people say that they’ve been convinced to buy a product or service by watching a brand’s video”
If well-done video can convince that many people to buy something, it can definitely contribute to your mission of keeping people from clicking on phishing emails or using secure passwords.
The common goal of marketing and training and awareness is behavior change, and video is a great tool for accomplishing that goal. Long story short: video ought to be part of your training and awareness strategy.
Video is a useful and effective route to take. But like all things, it must be done well to be effective.
Saying the Right Stuff with Video
The messaging content of a video (like all educational content) is just as important as its format.
We at MediaPRO created these two videos for Cybersecurity Awareness Month. We set out to create a script that was compelling without being too wordy (just let the stats speak for themselves), fun without being silly (the jazzy music helps), and easy on the eyes (modern with just the right amount of bright color). See what you think!
Feel free to use these videos as a part of your training and awareness program. They’re free for all to use.
Happy Cybersecurity Awareness Month!
