Data Privacy Day 2016 Is Coming! Take Action & Become a #PrivacyAware Champion

November 6, 2015
| National Cyber Security Alliance Team

Mark your calendars for Jan. 28, 2016 – it’s Data Privacy Day (DPD), an international effort held annually to create awareness about the importance of privacy and protecting personal information. DPD is part of a greater effort, the #PrivacyAware campaign, which helps everyone understand how they can own their online presence and reminds businesses that privacy is indeed good for business.

The importance of observing DPD each year is growing as the world becomes more connected, and we conduct more of our daily lives and business online. Respecting Privacy, Safeguarding Data and Enabling Trust is the theme for DPD, and the National Cyber Security Alliance (NCSA) is looking forward to partnering with organizations and individuals to help all digital citizens become more #PrivacyAware.

One way you can join the 2016 effort is by becoming a DPD Champion. The DPD Champion program is a way to officially demonstrate support. DPD Champions include companies and organizations of all sizes, nonprofits, government organizations, schools and school districts, colleges and universities and individuals. In 2015, more than 320 organizations became DPD Champions; help us make DPD 2016 the best yet and show your commitment to respecting privacy, safeguarding data and enabling trust by registering yourself or your organization as a Champion. It’s easy to sign up and does not require any financial support.

There are many additional ways to get involved in DPD 2016. To learn more about the day and how you can participate, visit the Data Privacy Day page or see our infographic here.

We look forward to partnering with you for Data Privacy Day 2016 as we continue to spread the #PrivacyAware message!
