Episode Notes

The line between our online and offline lives is indistinguishable. In these tech-fueled times, our homes, societal well-being, economic prosperity, and the nation's security are impacted by the Internet.

The overarching theme for Cybersecurity Awareness Month 2020 is:
"Do Your Part. #BeCyberSmart."

The theme empowers individuals and organizations to take their own role in protecting their part of cyberspace, with a particular emphasis on the key message for 2020:
"If you connect it, protect it."

If everyone does their part – implementing more robust security practices, raising community awareness, educating vulnerable audiences, or training employees – our interconnected world will be safer and more resilient for everyone.

We discuss this critical topic with Brandon Wales, Executive Director, Cybersecurity Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) exploring the Government's role in supporting all of these efforts by bringing them together, in an orchestrated effort, the key stakeholder necessary to make for a better, more secure, safer society; from the decision-makers to businesses, and all the way down to every single citizen.

The first two weeks of Cybersecurity Awareness month this year are incredibly focused on providing actionable information to everyday Americans about what they can do to be part of a more secure cyberspace.

Suppose you're paying attention to the messaging on the NCSA and CISA websites and in this episode. In that case, you will see and hear a theme that doesn't use the overly-technical words that have traditionally been associated with cybersecurity industry communications and awareness campaigns. Rather, the words are more human.

We can only succeed if we have partners willing to participate and become force multipliers throughout this community.

We can all be champions, not just this month here in the USA, but all year round and everywhere. It is a small and connected world, and we are in this together.

Join in and do your part.
