Chris Button is the Director, Cybersecurity Private and Public Partnerships for M&T Bank where he builds and manages relationships with external stakeholders.

In this capacity Chris creates partnerships with financial services sector firms, US Government agencies, trade organizations, information sharing groups, and non-profit organizations, focused on securing critical infrastructure from cybersecurity threats.

Before joining M&T Bank Chris served as the Chief of Staff and Chief Intelligence Officer at the Analysis and Resilience Center where he led initiatives to enhance critical infrastructure resilience and improve cyber threat intelligence collaboration with US government partners.  This built on work he began as Executive Director, Cybersecurity Collaboration at JPMorgan Chase, leveraging his experience to help stand up the ARC.

Chris served in various senior executive roles at the Department of Homeland Security, including Chief of Staff of DHS’ intelligence office, Senior Adviser for Cybersecurity Strategic Management, and Director of Cyber Threat Intelligence.  Throughout his DHS tenure, Chris played a pivotal role in developing new norms for collaborating with critical infrastructure owners and operators and supporting non-traditional customers with government intelligence capability.

Chris is a retired US Coast Guard officer with extensive operational experience including over ten years at sea and command of a patrol boat operating in the Florida Straits and the Caribbean.
